Celtic sea salt (Gros Sel), a typical rock grey sea salt from the coast of France, is unwashed, untreated, additive-free, and naturally grey in colour.
Natural, using no additives, and loaded with minerals (magnesium, calcium, potassium, and trace elements), this Guérande salt has a great flavour without bitterness. Due to its harvesting on a clay background, its crystals are grey, friable, wet, and perfectly assimilable.
Grey coarse salt is then kept for at least 1 to 2 years in salt marshes before being packed and ready to be sold.

This grey sea salt is entirely handmade, harvested off the Celtic sea in the south of Brittany each summer day on real saltworks that have been preserved in their natural condition by generations of salt marsh workers (Paludiers). Carnations are used to gather salt, and the harvesting ponds serve as the hub of a circuit where salt is concentrated as seawater slowly evaporates.
