When it’s cold outside, it’s time for raclette! Historically, half-wheels of this semi-firm Alpine cheese would be heated in an open fireplace until the cheese melted and became soft. The hot cheese would then be scraped (raclé) off the wheel and onto the guests’ plates.
If you don’t have a fireplace, don’t worry! You can make raclette by cutting slices from the wheel (which has been ripened for 8 weeks) and heating them on a special raclette grill, or in your oven. Enjoy it melted over potatoes, savoie with grilled meat or vegetables, with fruit and nuts, or with fresh French bread.
This half-wheel of cheese weighs approximately 3.5kg, and is suitable for freezing.
We also have smaller, 400g packs of raclette available as well as smoked raclette by Entremont.
